Creative businesses are too important to feel like they're held together by duct tape and a dream.

We're building and.software as a suite of modular business tools streamlined for the needs of small creative teams. While running our own studio, we were dissatisfied with how software these days feels like it's made for gigantic teams with endless amounts of complexity and bloat. We were tired of feeling like we had to learn to juggle 10 different apps just to run a small studio.

Talking with friends at other studios and art practices, we started to realize this wasn't unique to us. Whether you're an independent practitioner or part of a studio, lab, startup, or cultural institution, there's a shared difficulty in finding software that feels attuned to creative work. Tools that get out of the way as quickly as possible, so you can focus on doing the real work.

A different approach to building.

We're kicking off a community initiative to build and.software with and for the diverse community of creative business owners. Rather than sell a finished product, we want to invite you in so we can help directly solve the issues you're facing.

We're starting off with a project management tool that ties directly into your time and billing. From there, our roadmap will be shaped by the community -- but we're exploring tools for contacts, automated proposals and invoicing, file delivery, client portals, and more.

If this resonates, we'd love to hear from you. Sign up for our waitlist below to join our community development process.

We believe software can be quiet, attuned, and respect your attention to let you get back to doing what you love most.

For the artist & the maker & the dreamer & the researcher & those who want to do it differently.

See you soon.

FAQ

When should I expect to get access?

We're rolling out access gradually, inviting people in small groups to test different areas and give feedback before wider releases. Join the waitlist to get in early.

What is your approach to data privacy and collaboration?

Your data is fully encrypted, and only people you invite to your workspace can see your information. You can also invite team members, collaborators, or clients to view only specific projects. Each practice will get their own domain, so if your studio is Fieldwork, links you send to clients would be fieldwork.and.software. (You can add a note in the waitlist signup if you want to reserve a name.)

How is this different than [some project management software I've used before]?

Two reasons. 1. It's a connected stack of tools, so everything is part of an integrated system allowing you to make connections you couldn't otherwise. 2. It's opinionated and modular rather than general purpose. Each tool is a turnkey solution so you don't have to focus on admin, and you can enable only the features you need.

How much will it cost?

Right now we're planning on a free plan, a plan for solo practitioners, one for studios, and one for organizations. More details as we finalize this.
